We have an immedidate need for a Senior Electronics Component Engineer at the Redmond, Washington facility. The Senior Electronics Component Engineer will play a key role in the Electronics organization supporting new and existing space and defense programs. The candidate will support engineering teams in the successful planning, design, test, and qualification of electrical, electronic, electromechanical (EEE) parts and thermal components. EEE parts and thermal components are integrated into liquid rocket engines and electronic propulsion systems for spacecraft and launch vehicle applications. This current opening may be filled at this level as posted or at one level higher. Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each) 40% - Support design teams in the selection, evaluation, and documentation of EEE parts and thermal components. - Create detailed component specifications and drawings. - Manage customer flow down requirements and navigate industry and military standards/specifications to ensure component compliance. - Generate Non-Standard Part Approval Requests (NSPARs) and present them to Parts Control Board (PCB). - Review and disposition NSPARs submitted by sub-contractors.-- - Utilize knowledge of EEE parts construction and common failure mechanisms to develop acceptance and qualification criteria. 40% - Support EEE and thermal component supplier management - Work directly with suppliers to understand supplier capabilities and to communicate custom component requirements. - Provide oversite of custom part fabrication and test to ensure compliance to specifications. - Review data to ensure device compliance with requirements. - Support resolution of supplier non-conformance issues. 20% - Lead investigations of failed components - Use industry standard failure investigation processes to determine root cause of failures. - Generate failure investigation reports and recommend effective corrective actions to prevent recurrences. Requirements Requires a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related field and seven (7) years of experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience). - Knowledge of industry and military EEE part requirement standards and specifications including EEE-INST-002, MIL-PRF-19500, MIL-PRF-38535, MIL-STD-750, and MIL-STD-883. - Knowledgeable in device or component manufacturing processes - Experienced determining failure root cause and developing corrective and preventative actions to eliminate reoccurrence. - Strong and effective verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with stakeholders.-- - Proficient with Microsoft Office products. - Experience working in an equivalent engineering environment is desired. Being fully vaccinated for COVID-19 is a condition of employment at Aerojet Rocketdyne. Work Environment and Physical Requirements: Employees in these positions must possess mobility: to work in a standard office setting using standard office equipment; stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 pounds; may require minimal walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; visual acuity to read printed materials and computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. The employee may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful completion of activities in the organization.
