are looking for a talented and enthusiastic Data Engineer with
excellent communication skills and big data processing experience
to join our engineering team. You will build and maintain world
class products to enable Merkle's people-based marketing vision
using cutting-edge cloud-based technologies. You will work with a
team of passionate, experienced, nimble, and goal-oriented
engineers that are solving complex problems and building data
analysis features for our world class solutions. You will embrace
change, and rapidly build, test, and scale solutions that drive
incremental business value for our customers and partners. You will
also directly interact with client solution teams, guide, and
support them in their efforts. Key Responsibilities
- Directly interact and clearly communicate with client solution
teams, support client onboarding and regular platform builds
- Coordinate with other teams as part of a larger data-sharing
system
- Follow Agile methodologies to release iterative feature sets
very rapidly
- Research and introduce new solutions and technologies to the
projects and stakeholders
- Contribute to the full product development lifecycle using
industry best practices: design, implement, unit test, participate
in peer code reviews, and deliver product using continuous
integration and delivery
- Participate in quality assurance and comprehensive testing
- Communicate clearly, understand business requirements, and
write comprehensive and clear user and technical
specifications
- Diagnose and resolve production issues, and participate in the
on-call support rotation outside of normal business hours
- Contribute to a collaborative, positive, stimulating, and
enjoyable environment for your development team Qualifications:
- Must be authorized to work for our company in the United States
now and in the future.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information
Systems, or equivalent experience
- 1+ years Software Development/Data Engineering experience
- Must have solid database fundamentals and good SQL skills
- Understanding of data structures, algorithms, and distributed
systems
- Good Unix command line skills and familiarity with Bash
scripting
- Familiar with an object-oriented programming language such as;
Python or Java
- Knowledge of software engineering and development
methodologies, techniques, and tools, including Agile Development,
Issue Tracking (like JIRA), code repositories (like Git,
Bitbucket), Software Development Lifecycle and testing
methodologies
- Understanding of cloud base technologies (AWS, GCP or Azure,
AWS preferred)
- Must be able to accommodate on-call support rotation
- Good verbal and written communication abilities
- Exceptionally detail-oriented and have a sense of urgency
Desired Skills
- Knowledge of building and deploying products using continuous
integration principles
- Knowledge of relational and non-relational data models and
schema designs, and understanding of database performance
implications
- Familiar with "Big Data" ETL methodologies and managing large
scale data sets (EMR or Hadoop)
- Familiar with Snowflake data warehouse technology
- Knowledge of AWS technologies (such as S3, EC2, RDS, EMR,
Lambda or SNS/SQS)
- Knowledge of data processing workflow systems (Apache Nifi,
Talend or Airflow)
- Knowledge of creating reports, dashboards, and visualizations
