We've since worked with companies worldwide to successfully integrate our technology into their AR/VR, robotics, and laser projection display products and to bring revolutionary solutions to market. - We are now applying our technology to develop revolutionary automotive LiDAR sensors for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and Autonomous Vehicles (AV). - - -Job Summary:MicroVision has an opportunity for a Senior Staff Mechanical Engineer. -As a key member of the MicroVision Product Development team, you will work directly with MicroVision optical design engineers, as well as the MEMS, and electrical engineering teams. This position will provide mechanical hardware analysis, design and development for small laser beam scanning display products.Essential Responsibilities:

  • Mechanical and Opto-mechanical design of lidar products, and MEMS based scanner packaging, from requirements and architecture definition, through concept development and design to manufacturing of high-volume products, ensuring new products meet the performance, quality, reliability, manufacturability, and COGS goals.
  • NPI line development, working on alignment machine bring-up, process development, and characterization.
  • Leading mechanical development of top level, and/or sub-level assemblies, working cross discipline to ensure milestones are achieved.
  • Hands-on participation in prototype build activities, testing, and analysis, and test fixture development for proof of concept activities as well as product reliability testing.
  • Generation and review of technical documentation (specifications, drawings, assembly instructions, test plans).
  • Reporting and presentation of data in progress and design reviews.
  • Other duties as assigned.Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: -
    • High level of proficiency using SolidWorks.
    • Experience providing guidance and mentoring of junior engineers.
    • Experience with common manufacturing & design processes such as plastic injection molding, machining, fabrication of glass and plastic optics, flexible PCBA, and adhesives.
    • Experience working with overseas suppliers and contract manufacturers, assisting on and off site with build activities including line setup, process development, part qualification, and automation bring-up and trouble shooting.
    • Experience with statistical tolerance analysis as well as with developing, executing, analyzing and presenting DOE and SPC.
    • Solid communication and problem-solving skills, ability to understand complex systems and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
    • Excellent verbal and written communications skills in English. -Minimum Education and Experience:
      • 10+ years relevant experience in new product design and development.
      • BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or related field -or equivalent combination of education and experiencePreferred Qualifications:
        • Experience with MEMS (scanning, accelerometers, etc).
        • Experience with micro-assembly automation and high volume product design.
        • Structural and thermal modeling experience.
        • Hands on experience with optical and opto-mechanical hardware and test equipment.
        • Experience with laser based systems.This position is not 100% Remote. -MicroVision does offer relocation support and a flexible work schedule that could include a hybrid, flexible work schedule (onsite and offsite/remote). -However, candidate must live and reside within a commuting distance from MicroVision's headquarters in Redmond, WA.MicroVision is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
