Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)Projects will focus on areas of analysis within the Structures & Dynamics (S&D) discipline, under the supervision of senior engineering staff. Responsibilities will include the setup and operation of various finite element based structural analysis simulations to determine the deflections, stresses and strains in propulsion system components; interfacing with multidisciplinary teams; as well as documenting and presenting analysis results. RequirementsCandidate must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering (or similar program) and returning to school upon completion of the assignment.Preferred Qualifications3.2 GPA or above.Junior standing or above; graduate students preferred.Solid academic track record of accomplishment.Working knowledge of Microsoft Software applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.Leadership & teamwork skills.Coursework in Engineering Mechanics, Strength of Materials, Material Science, Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer, Finite Element Methods.Requires U.S. Citizenship or status as a U.S. Person. Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.Being fully vaccinated for COVID-19 may be a condition of employment at Aerojet Rocketdyne. Proof of vaccination or an accommodation request approved by Aerojet Rocketdyne may be required prior to starting employment with the Company.Work Environment/Physical RequirementsEmployees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit or stand and maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 pounds; may require occasional walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
