Job Description:
Datacenter Monitoring and Controls Engineering (DMCE) group is
responsible for critical environment monitoring and controls
application deployments at new datacenters. For existing
datacenters, DMCE is responsible for retrofitting and upgrading
datacenter critical environment monitoring and controls
applications for security compliance, new functionality, and
compliance.
The BAS service engineer position for MSFT datacenters is a Global
role, supporting BAS (Building Automation Systems) service for
datacenters around the world. This position is a multi-disciplinary
role which involves service management, system troubleshooting, and
upgrades/retrofits of the BAS for existing datacenter regions.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
The BAS Service Engineer will be responsible for managing global
service support for the third-party controls vendors that support
the datacenters. This role will manage the Tier 3 service provided
by the vendors, quarterly and annual reporting, provide technical
support for troubleshooting complex issues, and supporting
different departments with tasks that rely on BAS applications.
Projects may include upgrading software to the newest standard,
retrofitting site systems for adherence to newer data center
standards, enabling data reporting, security reviews, and data
telemetry. This role may require review of new designs during
construction and contributing to new or improved design
standards.
Responsibilities will also include providing training to Operations
and other personnel as needed and be expected to create Operations
& Maintenance documentation to provide to the site during
turnover.
This role will also require support to the Microsoft U.S.
Government Airgap team, you will perform a key role in delivering
the core infrastructure and foundational technologies that support
Microsoft's dedicated online services supporting the U.S.
Government.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or
related field AND 3+ years technical experience in software
engineering, network engineering, service engineering, or systems
engineering
o OR equivalent experience.
8+ years of experience in BAS implementation and support and
Datacenter Controls, Automation equipment and Networking
architecture
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working independently and as a member of a
cross-functional team.
Strong Written and verbal communication skills
Knowledgeable in the network topologies and communication protocols
associated with BAS systems and related networks.
Expertise in the following:
BAS device setup and SCADA implementations
Modbus/MODBUS-IP communication protocol
Troubleshooting communication issues and setting up BAS devices
Mission Critical facility networking experience.
HMI development in BAS systems like Siemens Desigo, JCI Metasys,
ALC WebCTRL, Alerton Compass, Trend IQVision, and others.
SCADA implementation and instrumentation field setup.
Ability to understand online drawings and wiring diagrams.
Experience with BACnet, IEC61850, OPC UA, and/or SNMP communication
protocols
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security
screening requirements are required for this role. These
requirements include, but are not limited to, the following
specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:
This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud
background check upon hire/transfer and every two years
thereafter.

Service Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role
across the U.S. is USD $112,000 - $218,400 per year. There is a
different range applicable to specific work locations, within the
San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the
base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 -
$238,600 per year.
Microsoft has different base pay ranges for different work
locations within the United States, which allows us to pay
employees competitively and consistently in different geographic
markets (see below). The range above reflects the potential base
pay across the U.S. for this role (except as noted below); the
applicable base pay range will depend on what ultimately is
determined to be the candidate's primary work location. Individual
base pay depends on various factors, in addition to primary work
location, such as complexity and responsibility of role, job
duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. Base pay
ranges are reviewed and typically updated each year. Offers are
made within the base pay range applicable at the time.
At Microsoft certain roles are eligible for additional rewards,
including merit increases, annual bonus and stock. These awards are
allocated based on individual performance. In addition, certain
roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on
revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the
