Microsoft Cloud Hardware Infrastructure Engineering (CHIE) is
the team behind Microsoft's expanding Cloud Infrastructure and
responsible for powering Microsoft's "Intelligent Cloud" mission.
CHIE delivers the core infrastructure and foundational technologies
for Microsoft's over 200 online businesses including Bing, MSN,
Office 365, Xbox Live, Skype, OneDrive and the Microsoft Azure
platform globally with our server and data center infrastructure,
security and compliance, operations, globalization, and
manageability solutions.
Our focus is on smart growth, high efficiency, and delivering
trusted experiences to customers and partners worldwide. We are
looking for passionate, high-energy engineers to help achieve that
mission. As Microsoft's cloud business continues to grow the
ability to deploy new offerings and Hardware Infrastructure on
time, in high volume with high quality and lowest cost is of
paramount importance. To achieve this goal, the Cloud Artificial
Intellegence & Advanced Systems Engineering (CAASE) team is
instrumental in defining and delivering operational measures of
success for hardware manufacturing, improving the planning process,
quality, delivery, scale, and sustainability related to Microsoft
cloud hardware. We are looking for seasoned engineers with a
committed passion for customer focused solutions, insight and
industry knowledge to envision and implement future technical
solutions that will manage and optimize the Cloud
infrastructure.
We are looking for a Senior Hardware Engineer to join the team. Our
team collaborates across different organizations in Azure to build
in-house custom hardware. We immensely value culture, mentorship,

Responsibilities
As a Senior Hardware Engineer you will be responsible for the
following:
Schematic Entry
Printed Circuit Board Layout
Bill of Materials Creation
Collaborate with partners to ensure systems meet significant
quality, reliability, and service level requirements for a cloud
environment
Work with internal and external partners to define and specify
Hardware solution requirements
Collaborate with partner Orignial Design Manufacture/Original
Equipment Manufacture companies
Hardware design
Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications
7+ years of technical engineering experience
OR Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer
Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 5+ years
of technical engineering experience
OR Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering,
Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years of technical
engineering experience
OR Doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer
Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
Background Check Requirments:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security
screening requirements are required for this role. These
requirements include, but are not limited to the following
specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:
This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud
Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years
thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications
10+ years of technical engineering experience
OR Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer
Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 8+ years
of technical engineering experience
OR Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering,
Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 6+ years of technical
engineering experience
OR Doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer
Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years
of technical engineering experience.
Desirable expertise in, experience with or passionate about:
Working across disciplines and organizations to resolve complex
issues
knowledge of the following HW design principals: Signal Integrity,
Power Design, Computer Architecture
Team Player
high volume hardware production.
cost/time/risk tradeoff analysis relative to time to market.
Bleeding edge hardware design.
Hardware Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role
across the U.S. is USD $112,000 - $218,400 per year. There is a
different range applicable to specific work locations, within the
San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the
base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 -
$238,600 per year.
