Aerojet Rocketdyne is seeking an Engineer for the Electric Thruster
Engineering group in our -Redmond, WA -office.
This is an entry-level engineering position -for a recent college
graduate in support of electric propulsion systems. The successful
candidate will support development, qualification, and production
of Hall thrusters, ion engines, arcjets, or other electric
propulsion products.

This position may be filled at this level or one level higher.
Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)
Under guidance of senior staff, this engineer will perform
entry-level assignments contributing to the completion of program
milestones. This engineer is expected to quickly acquire the higher
level knowledge and skills necessary to resolve increasingly
complex challenges. The position requires independent professional
judgment and application of engineering principles, theories and
concepts.
30% - Supports design, engineering analysis, and manufacture of
electric thrusters and their components.
20% - Writes test procedures, procures equipment, conducts tests,
analyzes test data, and writes test reports.
20% - Coordinates product and process development from initial
ideas through spacecraft integration. -
20% - Supports investigation and resolution of hardware and process
anomalies and issues identified by risk management or preventative
and corrective action.
10% - Engages other members of project or program teams,
management, and technical staff to define and implement engineering
solutions to meet group, organization, and company objectives.

Requirements
A Bachelor of Science degree in a related discipline and two (2)
years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and
experience is required. An advanced degree is preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint is required.
Must have experience working in a team environment and excellent
written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Skills: -
- Coursework and knowledge in the following areas: thermodynamics,
fluid mechanics, materials, electrical circuits, plasma physics,
and electric propulsion.
- Experience with Python, MATLAB, engineering analysis software
packages, or CAD packages.
- Experience with laboratory hardware, mechanical assembly, or test
is a plus. -
Requires U.S. Citizenship or status as a U.S. Person. Must be able
to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government
information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from
being able to meet this requirement.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a
standard office setting and to use standard office equipment,
including a computer; stamina to sit and to maintain attention to
detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull
up to 15 pounds; may require minimal walking, climbing, stooping,
crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and
a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person
and over the telephone. - May require the ability to travel by air
or auto. - May require the use of personal protective equipment
such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. - These
positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to
ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
