Job OverviewWe are currently seeking an Engineering Technician 2
with knowledge of contamination control techniques and processes,
for the purpose of preparing rocket engines for hot-fire testing
and post hot-fire propellant decontamination and functional test.
Candidates must have the ability and willingness to work other
shifts and overtime as needed to meet production schedules. This
current opening may be filled at this level as posted or at one

gazebosEssential FunctionsWorking under general supervision:25% -
Setting up rocket engines for hotfire: assembling rocket engines
into handling fixtures, connecting propellant manifolds to thruster
inlets in a laminar flow bench. Performing pressurized leak
checks,25% - Processing thrusters after hotfire: operating vacuum
oven to decontaminate propellant from thrusters. Performing
mechanical and electric functional tests on thrusters.10% - Support
a variety of contamination control and/or manufacturing related
tasks including assisting with troubleshooting problems, incident
reporting, failure investigations, training, report preparation,
etc.20% - Perform complex/precision mechanical assembly and test of
valves or other components/products as assigned. Read and interpret
product drawings and department procedures.20% - Other duties as
assigned, such as but not limited to support of new production
initiatives and schedules.RequirementsRequires an Associate's
Degree and one (1) year of related experience in a mechanical
environment (or an equivalent combination of education and
experience).Additional Requirements:
- Ability to read, interpret and understand: written documents,
drawings, procedures, specifications, and requirements to perform
assigned tasks.
- Proven ability to follow detailed work instructions and
procedures needed.
- Effectively communicate (both written and oral)
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations
- Strong mechanical assembly understanding
- Strong understanding of pressure testing (proof pressure,
external leak testing with mas-spectrometer and internal leak
testing)
- Strong understanding of electrical testing (DMM, Hipot,
oscilloscope, etc.)
- Ability to handle precision clean parts within a laminar flow
environment.
- Able to test and certify in processes such as in torqueing,
pressure testing, electrical testing, etc.
- Knowledge of contamination control processes and techniques,
clean rooms, laminar flow environments, FOE/FOD, etc.
- Familiarity with 6S and lean procedures
- Must be able to be trained and become certified in cleanroom
monitor within the first 3 months of employment.
- Use and operate various computer systems and applicable
software (such as retrieving work instructions or manufacturing
module in ERP system).
- Requires the ability to establish and maintain cooperative
working relationships with the work team and those contacted in the
course of work.
- Requires the ability and willingness to work other shifts and
overtime as necessary.May be required to obtain and maintain a U.S.
Security Clearance at the appropriate level. Requires U.S.
Citizenship. Must be able to satisfy federal government
requirements for access to government information, and having dual
citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this
requirement.Work Environment and Physical Requirements:While
performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently
required to use hands to finger, handle or feel items. The employee
is regularly expected to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and
arms, stoop and kneel. The employee must occasionally lift and/or
move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this
job include close vision, color vision, depth perception and
ability to adjust focus. May require the use of personal protective
equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. May
also be required to work in a standard office setting and to use
standard office equipment, including a computer. May require the
ability to travel by air or auto. These positions may be expected
to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of
activities in the organization.Pay range for this position:24.52 -
33.97 per hour Note about pay range:Pay range for this job level is
