The Role:
In this role you will be part of the Commercial Data team and play
a key role in defining, building and advancing Modena's Commercial
strategy. Your mission will be to design and deliver cutting-edge
data and analytics solutions that power Moderna's quantitative
analysis, AI, decision support, and business reporting. These
solutions will become the foundation that Moderna needs to deliver
sophisticated business analytics, required to bring our
life-changing medicines to market.
We are looking for an experienced, dynamic, and versatile
individual who can define end-to-end analytics solutions, easily
pivot between strategy and execution, and be passionate about
learning and developing at the pace of our rapidly growing
business. The ideal candidate will have a solid experience
developing modern data solutions in Amazon Web Services and have a
solid understanding of the traditional data warehousing
paradigms.
Here's What You'll Do:
- Partner with leadership on planning, prototyping, documenting
and initiating new projects and programs
- Analyze business requirements and create conceptual data
lake/lakehouse solution architectures, data models, and data
processes
- Lead highly technical discussions, generate technical
solutions, critically evaluate data architecture, models, and
processes.
- Partner with Data engineers and management on advancing and
maintaining tech roadmap for the Data Platform. Effectively promote
the tech agenda and assure key platform initiatives are implemented
in the timely manner
- Provide technical direction, serve as a mentor / leader to
other members of the team
- Gather, document, and analyze solution requirements; produce
development estimates
- Design, develop, test and deploy data collection, flow and
transformation components
- Troubleshoot and support existing data workflow processes;
deliver fixes and optimizations where appropriate
- Partner with the user community, software engineers and
operations specialists on data related investigations, research and
issue managementHere's What You'll Need:
- 10+ years of relevant experience with 5+ years of senior-level
big data architecture and engineering experience
- Passion for improving business outcomes through data and
analytics
- Track record of working effectively on project teams as
developer, as an architect or as a team leader
- Experience building data solutions with the Amazon Web Services
(S3, EMR, Data Pipeline, Redshift)
- Outstanding SQL and Python skills
- Experience with Spark and Map Reduce is preferred
- Experience with information delivery architecture, design and
tools, including Tableau, Looker, Quicksight, etc.
- Solid development experience with Hadoop and its ecosystem of
tools
- Strong understanding of traditional Data Warehousing principles
and architecture
- Ability to deploy and manage software in Linux
- Experience working in an Agile/SCRUM model
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work with a variety of stakeholders, mentor junior
resources, and effectively handle multiple tasks/deadlines with
success
- Bachelor's degree in a technology or a related discipline is
preferred
- Under Washington State law, Moderna is required to provide a
reasonable estimate of the salary range for the jobs covered by
this description. Base compensation for these positions in
Washington State range from $142,200.00 - 256,100.00 USD. Actual
salary determinations will take into account factors such as work
location, prior education and experience, job-related knowledge,
and demonstrated skills. Compensation decisions are made on the
facts and circumstances of each case.
