Experienced Software Design Engineer to join our P-8 Mission
Systems Software team located in Kent, Washington. This position
will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space and Security
Services (BDS) Software Engineering organization. In this position,
you will be responsible for defining requirements, developing
architecture and system level designs, testing, and supporting
system functionality including operational support. This position
will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space and Security
Services (BDS) Software Engineering organization. You’ll be an
integral part of supporting the Boeing Defense, Space and Security
(BDS) P-8 Poseidon program, which is the premier Anti-Submarine
Warfare (ASW) platform for the US Navy and several international
partners. Upcoming contract awards have enabled team expansion and
growth. This franchise program is anticipated to continue to be a
stable program for the foreseeable future. We are seeking a leader
that is passionate about aerospace and excited to work in a
multi-disciplined, collaborative engineering environment that
supports the design, development, and implementation of software
for existing and emerging government and international programs.
This exciting position requires demonstrated experience as a
Software Systems Engineer, knowledge of the full software
development life cycle (requirements, design, code, test), and the
clear exhibition of superior judgment and decision making to
engineer new solutions and support existing capabilities for
multiple programs and customers. Demonstrated critical thinking and
troubleshooting skills are required. Position Responsibilities: -
Designs, develops, analyzes, and maintains software systems that
meet industry, customer, and internal quality, safety, security and
certification standards. - Partners with appropriate stakeholders
to inform system definition and translate system-level requirements
into software requirements and models that meet customer,
operational needs, performance requirements and have clear
traceability to design, code and test artifacts. - Completes
software system-level analyses to identify risks, issues and
opportunities; integrates and deploys mitigation actions throughout
the software lifecycle. - Performs code reviews to ensure alignment
to requirements and standards. - Monitors and reviews test
completion, verification processes, and issue resolution for
software systems. - Develops user documentation and training to
educate end users about usage of software products. - Reviews
product and process for alignment with project plans and industry
standards by tracking and evaluating internal team and supplier
performance. Implements current and emerging technologies, tools,
frameworks and changes in regulations relevant to software
development. - Performs software project management and software
supplier management activities. Basic Qualifications (Required
Skills/Experience): - Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited
course of study in engineering, engineering technology,
mathematics, data science, or computer science with 3 or more years
of engineering work experience. - US Citizenship required - Ability
to obtain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance - Software Systems
Architecture experience - Software Requirements writing experience
- Interface design and control document experience Preferred
Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): - Troubleshooting H/W
and S/W issues in a complex environment - Scripting languages: XML,
Pearl, Python - Use case development - Supporting contractual
deliverables - Development of User Interface design - Experience in
Weapons Integration on military platforms - Experience with
customer or governmental regulations relevant to design, test, and
certification - Experience in engineering discipline(s) (e.g.,
electrical, mechanical, software engineering) applied to product
related systems throughout the product development life cycle, from
concept development to deployment - Experience in format
requirements, guidelines, and change control processes. -
Experience with relationships between specifications/standards and
aircraft/product certification systems - Experience in how to
derive and allocate requirements (e.g., system, sub-system,
software) and show traceability throughout the product lifecycle -
Experience with implementation, validation, and verification
processes, practices, and guidelines to ensure software development

considerations. Summary Pay Range: $126,650 - $171,350 Applications
