As Client Assistant scales to support multiple software and hardware surfaces, Performance, Reliability and Efficiency (PRE) are of paramount importance. We are constantly engaged in setting a high bar on PRE goals/metrics and collaborating across Assistant teams in meeting and beating them. As part of this endeavor, we seek a qualified Technical Program Manager (TPM) to come work with us in enhancing our PRE framework, defining new metrics, collaborating with engineering teams on shifting Performance Engineering left, and in continuing to make Client Assistant's Latency and Reliability best-in-class.Roles and Responsibilities---Work with engineering managers (EM) and engineers on maintaining a strong PRE profile across the Assistant stack for launched products and features---Drive E2E and component-level PRE data analysis and goal setting exercises for stable surfaces such as Portal and Oculus (e.g., Latency, Reliability)---In partnership with EM:---Propose and drive adoption of PRE best practices across Assistant engineering teams---Inculcate and promote shared accountability and ownership among all engineering teams for PRE goals and timely resolution of PRE-related bugs---Periodically report on PRE metrics, progress on issue resolution, and progress towards meeting PRE goals---Define and drive continuous improvement in PRE processes, dashboards, metrics. Work cross-functionally to develop best practices and product development processes in a quickly changing and dynamic environment, drive impact through deployment of key initiatives and garner adoption of those processes---Work with engineering managers (EM) and engineers on the right PRE strategy, framework and implementation plan for new products and features. Work with teams to set milestones, communicate project statuses, and identify/address potential setbacks, cutting through ambiguity and driving clarity.---For new products that are yet to be launched, conduct deep dives with engineering to understand and elevate key challenges and optimizations needed. Engage with partner and cross-functional teams to identify constraints, dependencies, risks/issues, and to deliver PRE output on time and at high quality---In collaboration with engineering and Data Science, propose and drive creation/adoption of new metrics as needed, along with timely implementation of instrumentation/logging/dashboards/alarms---Collaborate with all internal and external engineering teams on full-stack PRE instrumentation and metrics encompassing all areas on which Assistant functionality/performance has a dependence---Work with PRE EM and external (FRL) teams on a shared lab infrastructure (HW and Test Automation infra) utilizing in-house frameworks to drive PRE testing leading up to a high quality product launch---Maintain strong working relationships between internal and external teams and partners---Hold a high standard of PRE related Quality and influence engineering teams accordingly---Infra Capacity Planning---Work with PRE EM on defining and executing a robust framework for Assistant-wide Capacity Planning---Partner with PRE EM on timely execution of the quarterly Capacity planning exercise and timely submission of Assistant-wide Infra requirements---Work with Engineering EMs in identifying opportunities for Infra usage optimization (Efficiency), deliver those efficiency gains, and report on them periodically.Must Have - Minimum 5 years of experience---Technical Program Manager and Technical Lead/Testing Lead, Performance Engineer in Performance/Reliability/Efficiency (PRE) initiatives for complex software systems---Communication/presentation experience through all levels of the organization, technical and non-technical. Experience understanding and communicating technical information to non-experts.---Proven analytical and interpersonal skills with experience leading and influencing others.---Experience in driving and managing multiple projects under timelines and shifting priorities.---Experience driving technical decisions in ambiguity.---High sense of ownership, urgency, and collaboration.---Proven experience working effectively (communication and execution) with teams across multiple locations and time zones.---Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.---Experience working with a cross-disciplinary team of researchers, software engineers and hardware engineers.---Experience operating autonomously across multiple teams.---Experience Tester looking to be a TPM with Device/Service---Testing reliability, Latency and PerformancePreferred Qualifications---Graduate degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.---Experience managing PRE for speech-enabled applications or other complex ML-based systems. - provided by Dice
