DigiPen Institute of Technology
DigiPen Housing & Residence Life LLC Position Description: -

  • This is an exempt, full-time, and required live-in role
  • Reports to Director of Housing & Residence Life
  • The basic function of the Resident Director is to manage the Residence Life program, including paraprofessional staff selection and training, community events, health and safety inspections, conflict mediation, housing administrative shared responsibilities, level I conduct, oversee student clubs/orgs, and the Peer Academic Leaders (PALs)
    • 1 RD will have RAs, PALs, and Selection and 1 RD will also have RAs, Clubs, and Training
    • The RD team is part of the Housing team which also consists of the Housing Operations Coordinator, another Resident Director, -and the Director of Housing Responsibilities
      • Residence Life and Student Engagement:
      • Serve on the duty rotation for 1 week at a time answering any questions 24.7 via the duty phone
      • Mediate conflict, address crisis, and coordinate information with campus partners
      • Supervise and evaluate 1-2 LEAD Resident Assistant(s) and 14 Resident Assistants (14 in total with LEADs)
      • Oversee weekly RA reports, event proposals and event shopping
      • Manage the Resident Assistant on duty 24.7 and their duty scheduling
      • Coordinate Student Leader training for Fall and RA Summer training
      • Plan New Resident Orientation with LEAD RA's
      • Coordinate Student Leader selection with Student Affairs colleagues
      • Supervise, evaluate, and advise 10 Peer Academic Leaders (PALs) -
      • Co creates performance evaluations for student leaders
      • Attend weekly meetings with Housing team, RA/PAL team, and 1:1 with supervisor
      • Manage student clubs and orgs including Club Fair, club reimbursements, Advisor and Executive Board training, club meeting reservations, and overseeing attendance with Dragon scales
      • Conducts judicial affairs for Housing residents
      • Host virtual tours with incoming first years and work with Outreach for Preview Days & housing tours
      • Oversee annual updates of all Residence Life forms, applications and procedures
      • Collaborates with Marketing on website fixes, promotional materials, posters and advertising
      • Moderate DigiPenTV Twitch account and assist with events being hosted through the Twitch platform Housing Business Operations:
        • Assist in managing and processing Housing applications and placements
        • Update budget with all purchases and student work salaries
        • Work with Housing Operations Coordinator for upkeep of rosters, key audits, and occupancy audits by communicating room swaps, furniture swaps, and work orders
        • Work with property complexes in addressing high level maintenance and renovations
        • Assist in turnover projects such as move-in, move-out, cleaning, third party companies, and returning unit removals or assisting in unit additions
        • Perform maintenance requests such as drip pans, fixing furniture, changing light bulbs, and items not provided by the complex
        • Complete 3 yearly health and safety inspections of all the apartments to ensure residents are safe and apartments are up to speed
        • Managing the day to day inbox, general questions in the Dragons lair, and answering parent concerns
        • Check Housing Teams Channels and any other related channel for questions/concerns and moderate student channels
        • Delivers food insecurity gift cards to DigiPen students Other:
          • Instruct a Fall COL 101 course and attend bi weekly COL 101 meetings
          • Attends New Student Orientation Committee meetings and Student Engagement Committee Meetings
          • Other duties as assigned Academic Year Residential Population Information:
            • August-April - Academic year residents
            • May-July - Students from Singapore (OIP) and continuing Summer students reside in Housing -
            • May-August - K-12, Pre-College or special interest residents reside in Housing
            • August - Early Arrival Program (EAP) - First year students arriving 2 weeks early Qualifications
              Required: -
              • One year of paraprofessional residence life experience
              • Computer knowledge of MS Office and proficiency with new technology
              • Good at managing, leading, organizing, and communicating
              • Current valid driver's license and dependable transportation/personal vehicle Preferred:
                • Master's degree in Higher Education or related field highly desirable
                • One year of previous residence life professional experience
                • Knowledge or interest in the fields of video game development, animation, or computer engineering -
                • Not afraid of change or taking ownership of projects Salary and Benefits: $49,800 base salary, compensated apartment, utilities, WiFi, plus benefits. Inclusive of partner, dependents, and pets.
