The Supply Chain and Strategic Sourcing Group at Facebook is seeking a Strategic Sourcing Manager for various disciplines (Cameras, sensing, and Optics) to drive impact and deliver results in highly innovative Facebook devices. This position will focus on leading one of the most strategic categories in sourcing. The scope includes identifying, selection and development of long term partnerships for new products and new technologies through early engagement across cross functional partners, aligning external partner strategy to internal product roadmap needs, and to deliver best in class optical components and modules meeting Facebook product requirements at the right time, at the right speed, and at the right cost. An ideal candidate will have high ambition to grow with Facebook. You must be a high energy/impact individual with a demonstrated ability to succeed in a high-demand and fast-paced environment. Demonstrated ability to successfully navigate through ambiguities/difficult obstacles through facts & data, evaluation of alternatives, open-mindedness, thought-through strategy, and superior communications to lead cross-functional organizations through sourcing activities will be required.Actively engage and influence new technology exploration, collaborate with cross functional partners on creating a long term Technology Roadmap mapping closely with Product Roadmaps, and advise/recommend to the executive team a clear partner/supplier strategyOwn tech transfer into suppliers and elevating supplier's technology capabilitiesWork with engineering team to engineer manufacturing and process technology solutions that best aligns with our technology partnersDevelop and drive technology partner engagement strategy ensuring suppliers are capable of meeting Facebook's current and future technical and business requirementsSupport and influence HWD engineering team in new technology scoping effort with potential optical/materials/equipment partnersContinually benchmark the industry to monitor technology trends and ensure best practices are incorporated into the Facebook supply chainOwnership of sourcing category and strategies, leading 5+ year technology portfolio decisions, partner selection and business negotiationsPartner and work with a cross-functional team to drive the supplier selection process (own RFx) and component qualification both under strict engineering and commercial best practices/disciplinesActively participate in aiding to solve technical challenges along with cross-functional partnersAbility to perform Value Engineering second source qualification, alternate materials/process evaluation/quality, and other cost reduction initiative at the material/manufacturing levelBe an expert in commodity technology, cost and supply. Strong command of value engineering and technical cost reduction concepts to both product and category levelDrive Early Supplier Involvement initiatives to ensure our suppliers are proactively providing input into new product designs and future product roadmapsAbility to be creative on drafting development deals to kick start new relationships, and also to preserve a long term view to establish best-in-class pricing, flexibility, quality, delivery, payment, warranty, and service termsDrive product cost and negotiate competitive pricing while keeping in mind the total cost of ownership including product cost, CapEx, logistics, inventory and cost of qualityApply cost engineering principle to deliver most aggressive should-cost and budget (OpEx/CapEx) projections, with the ability to stand up to the most aggressive alternatives, doubts, and scrutinyFormulate contingency plans to de-risk technical challenges, long lead time, single source, and any supply risksDrive supplier and site readiness activities for NTI and NPI programs leading to successful product launch with the ability to deliver to the required volumes at launch. This includes coverage across operational, commercial and legal domainsAccountability for securing components and/or services in the above category that will provide competitive advantage in both technology and cost for FacebookAchieve established commitments on total cost results, supply, quality and compliance adherence, and on-time deliveryAbility to travel internationallyBachelor's degree in engineering or technical fieldMinimum of 5 years of experience in the consumer electronics or tech industry and experience scaling technologies7+ years of experience in product or process definition, having taken a module or system from concept stage into mass productionExperience articulating points of view with executive management but execute plans when directedExperience working embedded with hardware and systems engineering throughout product development process of technology productsExperience building relationships with engineering, product management, and other cross-functional partners and drive discussions around optimization of technical specifications, and features vs. value trade-offsExperience of optical and/or mechanical technologies, and demonstrated experience with deployment of manufacturing processes to support complex technologiesData-driven problem solving skills to address multi-dimensional problems with high levels of uncertainty across multiple functional teamsMaster's degree or PhD in technical disciplineExperience working on New Technology Introduction (NTI)Experience and knowledge in Optics, Display, Cameras and Depth Sensing technologyExperience in vision sensing technologies, including, ToF, Structure light, VCSEL, Cameras, image sensors, semiconductors, micro lens, free form optics, Fresnel Optics, optical coating, optical film lamination, etc.Experience in financial statement analysis to derive should-cost models and cost competitiveness/financial strengths of suppliers, as well as gathering market intelligenceExperience in supplier evaluation/selection, should cost models, contract negotiation and supply base managementFactory management experience internationallyExperience with medical or ophthalmic industry or experience with silicon or semiconductor fabs covering technology, equipment, process, infrastructure, and scaleFacebook's mission is to give people the power to build community and bring the world closer together.
