Ossia (www.Ossia.com) is hiring a Vice President of Software Engineering (Embedded Firmware) out of our Redmond, WA office. The VP of Software Engineering (Embedded Firmware) will report directly to the COO. This role will lead the software engineering, test and lab teams, setting strategy to take this game-changing wireless power platform from technology phase into commercialization, including guiding the next generation product roadmap. This high-impact role will guide the internal software, test and lab functions, while partnering closely with external partners/customers to lead integration of the technology into their end-user products.Background:At Ossia, our mission is to make wireless power ubiquitous.Be on the forefront of a new ground-breaking technology: Cota Real Wireless Power.   • Hands-on lead and manage all software development and test efforts at Ossia, for both internal projects (RDKs), mass market products and joint development projects (PoCs, pilots, etc.).
  • Work closely with Senior Leadership team on setting company objectives, communicating status and recommending directions.
  • Develop strategic planning for the direction and control of multiple parallel software development streams.
  • Set directions for incorporation of next-generation software technologies: AI, ML, deep learning, analytics, predictive modeling, cloud, etc.
  • Improve software architectures, standards, processes, Agile/Scrum methodologies, DevOps tools, with the goal of creating a learning organization.
  • Work closely with hardware and systems engineering teams, Product Management and Business Development teams. Manage requirements and scope, while delivering results to our customers.
  • Motivate and grow staff by providing technical direction and guidance. When necessary, be a player-coach in the role as manager, mentor and resource.
  • Execute and influence the software roadmap, ensuring products launch on time with quality, performance and features.
  • Formulate long-term objectives, standards, tools and processes for the department.
  • Guide sustaining software engineering and life cycle management, with direct responsibility for all software product issues associated with shipping products.
  • Develop efficient and high-yield manufacturing test software, and quickly resolve production software issues.
  • Evangelize our products and company internally and externally.
    • 10 years leading consumer electronics product development at leading consumer electronics manufacturers. Managing and delivering complex hardware/software projects on time and with superior quality.
    • RF Engineering product design and depth working with embedded firmware preferred.
    • Team leadership experience of 10+ engineers; Proven ability to recruit top talent
    • Demonstrated capability as a senior leader of people and technologies taking form concept to volume production.
    • Proven "Out of the box thinker" mentality, managing innovative product risk while balancing the road map for on time deliverables.
    • Strong relationship management, strategy development, project management, problem solving and change management skills.
    • Tech savvy and professionalism, strong sense of business ethics, and approachability.
    • Strong foundation of engineering competency, with a passion for excellence.
    • Ability to think creatively to come up with new, valuable approaches.
    • Proven experience in operational excellence and quality process management.
    • Demonstrate passion, great communication skills and commitment to help take this game changing technology to the world.
    • Previous startup experience going through rapid growth.
