Do you have the ability to identify important technical insights and influence Microsoft's product team roadmaps?The Commercial Software Engineering (CSE) team is a global engineering organization that works directly with customers looking to leverage the latest technologies to address their toughest challenges and transform their businesses using cloud-based solutions. CSE and customer engineers collaborate to understand customer goals and create production-ready solutions. Our code-with approach gives us deep insight into the challenges customers face with Microsoft cloud services, and we learn about emerging customer scenarios and requirements.As a Technical PM Lead in CSE's Solution Areas team, you will collaborate with a Group Engineering Manager to lead multiple engineering crews providing technical subject matter expertise and delivering end-to-end customer engagements. Your team will focus solving our customers' hardest problems across the spectrum of application development, including serverless, containerized workloads, and other platform-agnostic application solutions. You will help craft team strategy, develop insights that you share with senior leaders in Microsoft's cloud engineering teams, drive execution with customers, and create solutions to improve engineering capabilities within CSE/Microsoft.This role requires incredibly strong communication skills, with an ability to talk with, and translate between, business stakeholders and the most technical engineering teams. You must have the experience and maturity to effectively communicate with and influence engineering executives. Success requires strong leadership skills, the ability to create data-driven insights, and superb collaboration skills.ResponsibilitiesLead a team of top-notch Technical PMs. You must create clarity and drive alignment, and you need to create a healthy, positive, passionate, and inclusive culture. Your passion for growing people will make the difference!Collaborate with a Group Engineering Manager to define team strategy, drive execution, deliver results. Create great outcomes for customers and the CSE engineers working with those customers.Develop new capabilities within CSE and Microsoft, ranging from engineering patterns to example code to formal training material.Share learnings and insights with product engineering team to influence improvements to products.Use data to justify priorities and to support insights.Collaborate with the other senior members of the team to share insights, practices and data that can influence the decision process on the engagements reviewedContinuously drive excellence in technical program management fundamentals to continually build our shared best-practicesQualificationsWe are open to all backgrounds and are looking for candidates with demonstrated ability to deliver on the responsibilities for the role. Required:5+ years' program management experience including shipping complex production systems that run on a public cloud and hybrid public/on-prem solutions.2+ years in a lead engineering role driving demonstrably impactful results.Preferred:Experience leading complex customer engagements and effectively managing internal and external relationships.Strong technical program management (TPM) experience on cloud engineering products/projects.Demonstrated strong people leadership skills with focus on developing people and creating positive, trusting relationships with other TPMs, engineers, customer business and technical staff, product engineering teams, and Microsoft field teams.Demonstrated expertise with agile engineering approaches, especially in the role of Product Owner.Ability to define and solve complex problems, communicate to senior decision makers in a clear, compelling way, and drive decisive action in partnership with others in a large organization Strong cloud computing knowledge, preferably with Microsoft's cloud platforms, including Azure, Dynamics, and Office.Proficiency in creating technical reports, white papers, or case studies Experience working within and directing geographically dispersed, diverse, and virtual teamsA Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline or the equivalentEnjoy travel and comfortable with regional travel up to 25%Note: This role requires that individuals be US Citizens or Green Card HoldersFor Colorado OnlyThe salary for this role in the state of Colorado is between $158,800 and $238,200At Microsoft, certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including annual bonus and stock. These awards are allocated based on individual performance.
