Job Description:
AWS Security, Search, Observability, and Governance (SSOG) is
hiring a Senior UX Designer to help shape the next generation of
AI-native cloud experiences. This role operates within our
Experience Builder model, where designers own the full lifecycle of
customer outcomes—from problem framing to shipped production
experiences. As a Senior UX Designer, you will work on critical
build initiatives across the SOGS portfolio spanning observability,
search, security, and governance experiences. These products help
developers, SREs, and platform teams monitor systems, investigate
incidents, manage data and search workflows, and maintain security
and compliance across complex distributed environments. You will
help define the next generation of agentic and AI-assisted
workflows, where systems surface insights automatically,
investigation paths are guided, and user intent can trigger
coordinated actions across services. Beyond delivering high-impact
product work, this role will help elevate design craft and scalable
interaction patterns across the portfolio. You will contribute to
reusable experience frameworks, agentic UX patterns, and design
system components that enable teams to move faster while
maintaining a high bar for usability and clarity. The ideal
candidate is comfortable operating as a builder—someone who can
move fluidly from research insights to prototype to production
design while collaborating deeply with engineers and AI systems.
This role is part of a broader transformation of the SOGS design
organization toward builder pods with end-to-end ownership of
outcomes, enabling designers to take ideas from concept to customer
impact faster and with fewer dependencies. Key job responsibilities
- Build critical product experiences across SOGS. Design and
deliver high-impact customer experiences across Security, Search,
Observability, and Governance services, including console and
off-console surfaces such as APIs, AI agents, and developer
tooling. - Drive end-to-end experience ownership. Operate as a
full-cycle experience builder—contributing to problem framing,
defining success metrics, designing workflows, prototyping
solutions, and partnering with engineering through production
delivery. - Design AI-native and agentic workflows. Define
interaction patterns for AI-assisted systems including guided
investigations, automated signal correlation, governance insights,
and intent-driven system actions. - Create cross-service
operational workflows. Design experiences that connect signals and
workflows across observability, security posture, governance
controls, and search infrastructure to help teams move from
detection ? investigation ? resolution faster. - Elevate craft and
interaction quality. Raise the bar for interaction design,
usability, and visual craft across services by establishing
reusable patterns, interaction models, and experience principles. -
Scale shared experience patterns. Partner to develop scalable UX
patterns and components that support consistent workflows across
console and off-console experiences. - Accelerate design-to-build
velocity. Use modern prototyping tools, AI-assisted design
workflows, and rapid experimentation to shorten the cycle between
idea and shipped experience. - Partner deeply with engineering.
Work closely with engineers to ensure designs are technically
feasible, production-ready, and aligned with underlying system
architecture. - Simplify complex cloud systems. Translate complex
distributed infrastructure, telemetry signals, and security
insights into intuitive workflows that help users understand and
act quickly. - Influence product direction through design. Use
customer insights, telemetry, and design thinking to identify
opportunities that improve cross-service experiences and shape
future product capabilities. - Contribute to the design community.
Mentor other designers, participate in design reviews, and help
define patterns and practices that raise the bar across the
organization. A day in the life A Senior UX Designer in SOGS starts
the day reviewing customer signals—telemetry, research insights,
and product metrics across Security, Search, Observability, and
Governance services. In a builder pod standup, they align with
product and engineering on the problem to solve and success
metrics. Midday is spent prototyping workflows for AI-assisted
investigation or governance insights, testing ideas quickly with
engineers and AI-assisted tools. Afternoons often include design
reviews to refine interaction patterns and ensure consistency
across services. Before wrapping up, they validate designs against
real user workflows, ensuring the experience helps developers and
operators move faster from signal to understanding to action. About
the team The SOGS Design and Research team shapes experiences
across AWS Security, Search, Observability, and Governance—helping
developers, SREs, and platform teams understand and operate complex
cloud systems. Our team operates through experience builder pods,
where designers partner closely with product and engineering to own
outcomes end-to-end, from problem framing through shipped
experiences. We focus on simplifying complex operational workflows,
designing AI-assisted and agentic interactions, and creating
scalable experience patterns that work across console and
off-console surfaces. Our culture emphasizes craft, customer
obsession, and experimentation. Designers here influence product
direction, work on critical infrastructure used globally, and help
define the future of AI-native cloud operations. - 7 years of
