experiences to stitch together 1st party capabilities such as
Productivity and Bing but also enable a rich 3rd party ecosystem
including anything built with the Bot Framework.
Incubation and investment in key Skill partnerships will help
build a thriving ecosystem where our customers and partners can
surface their conversational capabilities wherever their end users
are whilst also composing capabilities from others.
Responsibilities We are looking for a Principal Software
Engineer with experience building platforms and bringing together
pieces from Microsoft platform to help us bring the next generation
of advanced assistants to life.
As a Principal SDE on this team, you'll not only be challenged
to innovate on what the cutting edge of AI supports, but you'll
also help drive the architecture and processes related to building
You'll mentor and grow the talent in the broader engineering
Set the Technical and Quality Bar across the Virtual
Design and implement patterns and practices for Conversational
Partner in cross-language design of complex conversational

In this position, you'll need to love customer interaction, as
customer focus is the key lens for our work. Bots are a new field,
and ambiguity is everywhere - so a passion for figuring out "what",
"why" and "how" is critical.
You’ll be part of an innovative and agile team helping to build
out the Open Assistant capabilities. You will own key features end
to end whilst working with key customers to help validate our work
and ensure they are successful.
7 + years of industry experience developing and implementing
platforms, tools and applications at scale
BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience
Designed and delivered applications and platforms that are
performant, reliable and secure for millions of users
high-level architecture to low-level optimizations
Experience with C# development from high-level architecture to
Experience working in software engineering, and can demonstrate
best practices for project management, CI/CD and build
infrastructure, quality control, and product development
Experience with Node.js and Browser technologies
Comfortable dealing with ambiguous, challenging or new
Results driven; strong analytical skills with good communication
Experience in the following areas is highly desirable but we can
bring the right person up to speed as part of on-boarding:
Proven track record of collaborative design in an agile team
Passionate about crafting the best user experience for the
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, willing and
ability to mentor other developers
Experience in continuous integration systems
yarn/rush/lerna, ECMA Modules, Webpack/Rollup
A track record of working collaboratively to understand customer
needs and create solutions that positively impact our
Experience building conversational experiences leveraging the
Microsoft Bot Framework and associated Cognitive Services (e.g.
Language Understanding Intelligent Service (LUIS) and Speech)
Azure DevOps experience
Experience with GitHub and open source project
