Because when lives and property matter, good isn't good enough.The RF Systems Lead will work with multi-disciplined engineers to accelerate bringing high RF performance, low-cost satellite-based communication systems to the market. This role will work with our product development, hardware, and software teams to translate market and customer requests into system requirements and detailed specifications. The ideal candidate will be able to lead and direct design, modeling, and analysis efforts, and will develop performance expectations for features which provide a seamless mobile experience on satellite networks. The RF Systems Lead will contribute as a both a lead and contributor in the technical direction of systems, software architecture, and algorithms by helping solve complex mobile satellite communication and networking challenges. This role will be accountable for planning and execution activities related to RF Systems for the relevant program workstream. This includes requirement planning, resource planning, budget planning, test planning and risk reporting. RF Systems include all RF systems architecture, DSP, satellite communication systems, RF system modeling, and RF system performance. This role will engage heavily with the NTI teams and Terminal Lead.Key Duties andResponsibilitiesLead FCC and ITU regulations work with engineering teams to ensure that current and future antenna terminal products adhere to regulatory standardsSupport development and lead execution of product roadmaps to meet both internal and external customer needsLead the design of next-generation satellite broadband technologies based on evolved industry standards and via collaboration with network operators, suppliers, and the commercial industryDrive system level design specifications, analysis, and trade-offs, including definition of subsystem requirements, features, and integration tests across hardware and software in response to customer and product requirementsCollaborate with NTI & NPI leads to transition new technologies into productizationMaintain library of source-of-truth analyses to justify system KPIs and identify network-level impacts for noncompliance. These include link budgeting, XPD, and PSD analysesSupport PMO on workstream and program reporting and resource planningMentor and train early-career engineersSkills and Experience10 years of experience in end-to-end performance management and optimization across radio access networks, services & systems aspects, and core networks & terminals. This assumes deep understanding of RF link budgeting, channel modelling, communications theory, and FCC & ITU RF regulations with a working understanding of antenna performanceModeling and simulation experience using industry tools and software (MATLAB, STK, C++, Excel, Python)Extensive experience and deep knowledge of modulation and coding and other aspects of air interfacesUnderstanding of satellite terminal component design and qualification, including RF amplifiers, receivers, and digital signal processingDirect experience in NGSO product development preferredProven ability to communicate deep technical details clearly and concisely for a high-level understanding to a wide range of backgrounds through all phases of developmentLeadership experience, ability to influence and set technology standards and process directionExcellent problem-solving skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environmentExperience working with software development teams using scrum and agile process preferredEDUCATIONBSEE with 10+ years in industry or equivalent experience in related field, MSEE or PhD preferredAs part of our hiring process we request that all applicants complete the Predictive Index Behavioral Assessment by clicking on this link: Link.
