The drive to excel and thrive in an engaged, collaborative environment?Golder Associates is seeking a Senior Environmental Planner to join us in our Redmond, Portland, or Sacramento offices on a full-time basis. This individual will perform professional and technical work in the field of natural resources and environmental planning. Main responsibilities will be to conduct natural resource reviews and studies; collect, evaluate, and present data, providing technical support for utility, transportation, energy, and industrial projects in the West Business Unit. Individual will work independently as well as with other Senior staff to further build Golder's environmental planning practice. Responsibilities of the role will include: Knowledge of the principles and practices of environmental planning and natural resource permittingKnowledge of Washington's State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA)is preferredKnowledge of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) requiredKnowledge of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) preferredExperienced with interpreting rules, regulations, and policies for effective decision-makingExperienced in preparing natural resource permitting including Clean Water Act Section 404 permitting, Nationwide Permits, Section 401 certificationExperienced in researching, interpreting, compiling, and summarizing environmental data and technical studies for natural resourcesExperience in preparing reports and recommendations regarding land use, socioeconomics, transportation, environmental justice, and other built environment technical studies preferredAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships and communications with internal and external clients, industry professionals, co-workers, and the general publicAbility to prepare and to give presentations to governmental agenciesCoordinating public engagement and outreach activities (including development of public informational materials) and response to public comments.Conducts fieldwork and site inspections, as requestedAbility to organize work, establish priorities, meets established deadlines, and follow up on assignments with minimum direction/guidance Required: A Bachelor's degree in planning, environmental science, environmental policy or other natural resource degree from accredited programA Master's Degree in Planning, Environmental Science, or Environmental Policy is preferred, but not requiredTen (10) or more years professional planning experience within a public organization and/or private firm; or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training and/or work experiencePrivate sector experience to include preparation of work scopes, budgets to execute work scopes and proposals to undertake new assignments in a competitive marketplaceMust demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to clearly and effectively communicate informationMust be proficient in the use of basic computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goalsPerforms a variety of tasks. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
