Consumers and businesses across the globe communicate in a
variety of ways - whether by VoIP, video, email, or traditional
telephone service - and, as a result, telecommunications laws and
policy are evolving. If you love working on cutting-edge regulatory

technologies, this position is for you. Microsoft Corporation has
an immediate opening for an attorney on the telecom compliance team
that will address a wide variety of Microsoft services now and in
the future. The primary function of this role is ensuring
compliance with existing and changing regulations in Europe, but
also other areas of the world as well.
The position is part of the Privacy and Regulatory Affairs (PRA)
group in the Corporate, External and Legal Affairs Department, and
will be based in Redmond, WA, although a candidate could be located
in Washington, DC.
+ Analyzing new and proposed telecom regulations that impact
existing and planned Microsoft products and services.
+ Developing and overseeing a compliance program to ensure
Microsoft products and services remain in compliance with
applicable regulations imposed by telecom regulators across
+ Working closely with the PRA-Telecom Compliance Program
Manager to ensure regulated services timely file regulatory reports
and respond timely to regulator inquiries.
**Basic Qualifications include:**
+ JD from an accredited college or university and an active
license to practice law is required, with a strong preference for
excellent academic credentials.
+ Experience with telecommunications regulation
+ Minimum of five (5) years' experience working in a regulatory
environment, in a law firm, government agency, or a large
+ Experience with developing or managing a company's compliance
with applicable telecom regulations.
+ Excellent analytical, written and verbal communications
+ Excellent organizational skills.
+ Prefer specific experience with spectrum licensing,
traditional telecom regulation, regulation of IP-enabled services
(e.g., VoIP) and/or video regulation.
+ Prefer experience with European telecommunications law,
particularly familiarity with the new European Electronic
Communications Code and its application to "OTT" services.
+ A self-starter with a can-do attitude, and a bias for
