Hardware Verification Engineer

Redmond, WA 98052 (must be local)

6-11 month contract (with possibility for conversion to direct-hire)

We are seeking a Hardware Verification Engineer for a 6 to 11 month contract role with a leading client in Redmond, WA.


Support functional verification on high-speed electro-optic components, and its integration into subsystem and ultimately spacecraft systems

Collaborate cross-functionally with design, control, embedded software, reliability and manufacturing engineers to define calibration, test methods and performance screens

Validate boards, troubleshoot/debug electronics, read schematics, etc.

Design test methodology, document test plans and ensure it meets the technical requirements

Develop scalable test automation scheme that includes: component firmware, auxiliary instrument control, front-end GUI and back-end database, remote control and coordination of distributed test subsystems (L5+)

Execute the test, perform statistical data analysis (L5+), document the test result and present it to a diverse audience

Compare the test result to theoretical simulation data and drive (L5+) the design improvements

Monitor the design and technical requirement change, iteratively optimize (L5+) the test procedures, infrastructure, specification and automation

Characterize and calibrate interconnects using VNA and TDR

Design test stations for stress and performance analysis

Required Skills:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, related field or equivalent experience

5+ years of overall experience in test validation and automation experience

Experience in failure analysis and troubleshooting skills in a laboratory environment

Experience with prototyping solutions and bench testing methodology

Experience with board level validation

Experience with up to a minimum of 10 GB Ethernet

Experience with basic programming skills for test automation and data analysis

Experience using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, RF/optical spectrum analyzers, vector-network-analyzer, BERT, protocol-analyzer and other common measurement equipment

Experience in device verification testing (DVT), qualification testing of RF, optoelectronic modules, transceivers and/or line-cards.

Preferred Skills:

7+ years of design verification experience in the aerospace industry

Experience with power supplies, cameras, mixed signal, analog front-ends, FPGAs, sensors, RF, Electro-Optical, photonic and high-speed electrical signal characterization

Working knowledge of SPI, I2C, and CAN interface

Working knowledge of Python for test automation

Working knowledge of optical components, Ethernet tester, BERT, high-speed real-time oscilloscope is a plus

Basic knowledge of coherent optical communication, OSNR, BER and DSP is a plus

Basic knowledge of high-speed Serdes, IEEE CEI standard, jitter, ISI and noise analysis is a plus

Experience as the technical lead, leading small groups of other validation engineers across multiple designs
