We are looking for a gifted, experienced communications professional with stellar organization and orchestration skills to strategically manage the communications and events for organization.

Our team owns a broad array of modern productivity experiences across Office, Mobile, Education and Modern Life. Come join us on our journey to modernize the way customers get things done at work, home, and school!

In this role, you will be accountable for a communication strategy that helps the team understand and contextualize business and culture priorities, with a particular focus on our Office organization. You should be able to curate content so that the most critical and actionable messages are "heard". Additionally, you will create communications collateral across modalities in the form of email, presentations, video scripts/outlines, Teams channels messages, website design, etc.

Because the times we come together are key opportunities to reinforce those messages, you will architect and drive large cross-organization events that share the story in an engaging way. We are looking for creativity and focus that keeps events engaging and effective across a wide variety of audiences. Additionally, you will need to be comfortable managing and coordinating the numerous details that need to come together to execute a successful event.

More specific qualifications and attributes are:


  • 5+ years in marketing, program management or communications with strong operation and production experience
  • Experience in synthesizing the complex - able to take multiple, complicated, disparate inputs from a variety of materials, evidence, and long form messaging and transform it into simple, clear, succinct, elegant, and compelling communication work products like talking points, Q&A, social content, and similar
  • Can provide examples of engaging communication materials upon request


  • BA/BS in Journalism, Marketing, Communications, Business, or related field OR equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize the complex - able to take multiple, complicated, disparate inputs from a variety of materials, evidence, and long form messaging and transform it into simple, clear, succinct, elegant, and compelling communication work products like talking points, Q&A, social content, and similar
  • Demonstrated executive maturity - can be entrusted with confidential information, adjust message to fit needs of executive audience, and understand how to assess strategic importance of information in broader business context
  • Strong collaboration skills - flexibility, proactiveness, teamwork, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment is a must
  • High capacity for multitasking and project management skills, able to manage multiple, high-stakes projects and deliverables simultaneously across multiple workgroups and stakeholders
  • Ability to drive clarity and direction in ambiguous situations
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
  • Self -motivated and directed person, requiring minimal supervision for assignment completion

Communications strategy and development

  • Develop and execute a communications strategy that aligns to our business and organization goals and priorities as well as the broader E+D community
  • Determine the most effective modes and rhythms that ensure clarity and engagement across the team
  • Gather input from key stakeholders (leadership team, business managers, initiative leaders, communications managers outside the team, etc.) to ensure context from both outside the team and within the sub-teams is considered as we build out our plans
  • Define the communications calendar for key themes and engagements, and work closely with the business management community to cascade within the team
  • Measure program and event effectiveness, document learnings, and leverage for the future

Storytelling and Execution

  • Go beyond just the facts to build stories that help the team understand the business goals we want to achieve and empathize with the customers we serve
  • Build communications in a variety of mediums: presentations, talking points/briefs for speeches/Q&A sessions, emails, and video scripts
  • Target communications to a variety of forums/audiences including internal (all-hands meetings, Teams posts, newsletters, website spotlights, and ad hoc communications from executives) and external (executive level keynotes, customer engagements, and conferences)

Program and Events Content and Coordination

  • Lead major (and minor) events throughout the year including:
  • Office All Hands - semi-annual event for the thousands of individuals working on the Office product
  • Blend - multi-day event for senior product definition leaders from across the company
  • O3 - multi-day conference for engineering leadership across the extended Office community across Microsoft
  • Manager meetings - gatherings of our managers and senior leadership working on both understanding priorities and building skills needed to lead our teams

  • Understand the desired outcome(s) for each event and focus planning, budgeting and priorities against those goals
  • Develop multiple project milestones, event plans, and contingency plans as needed based on budget, timing, and business need
  • Drive collaborative discussions and decisions with key stakeholders and executives
  • Lead communications for the events through email and our website
