The primary goal of this internship is to conduct research on novel optical approaches in conjunction with human vision and visual optics, pushing the boundaries of what is possible with traditional optical systems and introducing more dynamic control. In this role, you will embed with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and research scientists exploring innovative approaches and working to design, prototype, and evaluate novel hardware solutions. Our internships are twelve (12), sixteen (16) or twenty four (24) weeks long, and we have various start dates throughout the year.

  • Explore technologies for shaping the wavefront of a head-mounted displays optical system in novel ways.
  • Analyze and compare potential designs with prior approaches in this space.
  • Optical design and simulations for mapping trade-space and defining requirements.
  • Documentation and presentation of findings to your peers.
  • Prototyping and hardware development for proof of concept demonstrators.
  • In conjunction with with other researchers and engineers, construct and evaluate at least one such novel design.
