Authority (MTA), is a Public Transportation Benefit Area (PTBA)
Authority, authorized in Chapter 36.57A RCW, located in Mason
County, Washington. The service was approved by Mason County voters
in November 1991, and MTA began providing public transportation in
December 1992. The service area includes all of Mason County, where
road access is available, with connections to adjacent
counties.WHAT WE DOMTA provides transportation services consisting
of Fixed Route, local and regional deviated fixed routes,
Worker/Driver commuter service to Puget Sound Naval Shipyard
(PSNS), and Demand Response. Facilities include Johns Prairie
maintenance base, the downtown Shelton Transit-Community Center and
a Belfair park and ride complex. MTA supports a network of park and
ride facilities that are located throughout the County by managing
and providing routine maintenance for locations owned by Washington
State Department of Transportation (WSDOT), the County or
others.MTA is currently seeking full-time Fueler/Detailer. Ideal
candidates are those who exhibit a strong work ethic as a top
priority, along with a willingness to serve both internal and
external customers. MTA trains for everything else, including CDL
through a rigorous paid training period at full-time hours.Full
salary range: $20.48 to $23.75 per hour. Non-Exempt subject to FLSA
requirements.Comprehensive benefits package includes: Mason Transit

holidays, vacation accruals based on years of service that begin at
3.69 hours per pay period (12 days per year), additional 1.69 hours
of paid sick leave per pay period in addition to the required WA
Paid Sick leave (total 12 days per year), two (2) 8 hour personal
days per calendar year, three (3) days of bereavement leave per
loss of immediate family member, Washington State Public Employees
Retirement System (PERS) plan options, and optional Deferred Income
(IRS 457 plans) retirement plans. This position is eligible for
longevity premium beginning at the 5-year employment mark with MTA,
and a $250 safety shoe allowance included in the first pay period
upon employment. In addition, the position is eligible per
permitting circumstances inclement weather pay, meeting and
training pay, and education assistance.Position is open until
filled.NATURE OF POSITION- Fueler/DetailerUnder the direction of
the Lead Mechanic, the Mason Transit Authority's (MTA)
Fueler/Detailer position is primarily responsible for fueling and
detailing of vehicle interiors and exteriors, providing support for
facilities maintenance and custodial requirements of the Agency as
needed. This position requires the ability to follow instructions
and apply acquired knowledge in the use of software applications
that enables service to be scheduled as efficiently as possible.
The assignment of specific duties to Fueler/Detailer will vary
depending on the Agency's business needs, shift rotation and
individuals' expertise and skill sets.DISTINGUISHING
CHARACTERISTICS- Fueler/DetailerEmployees assigned to this class
are part of the team effort which provides support and assistance
to drivers. Incumbents are responsible for providing excellent
customer service and resolving customer concerns and questions in a
timely and effective manner.Supervision received from: Lead
MechanicESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Clean by traditional means, all vehicles, service equipment,
facilities, bus shelters and emergency equipment owned and operated
by the Agency.
- Clean spilled food, drinks, litter, human wastes and bodily
fluids and other debris.
- Collect and dispose of all refuse, garbage, and other debris
throughout the vehicle inventory; operational areas; and facilities
of MTA.
- Perform duties associated with facilities such as custodial or
other light building maintenance as assigned to meet the needs of
the Agency.
- Fuel and check fluid levels of all vehicles controlled by the
Agency including operational, emergency, and service/staff
equipment.
- Perform minor repair of facilities and operational equipment as
directed by supervisory staff.
- Contribute to the goals and objectives of the Maintenance Team,
to include formulation and implementation of operational policies,
procedures, and controls to ensure safe and efficient operational
activities and adherence to established service, budgetary and
customer satisfaction standards. Recommend changes as
warranted.
- Utilize appropriate sanitation cleaning agents and
equipment.OTHER FUNCTIONS
- Perform duties in support of ongoing and special projects.
- Serve on committees, task forces and other work groups.
- Perform other duties as assigned and any duties of a similar
nature or level needed to make MTA a world-class transit
agency.
- Assist and/or provide training to new
fueler/detailers.Maintenance/Facility employees are represented by
International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers

and PC).MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Must have a minimum of five (5) years licensed driving
experience.
- Must have no at-fault accidents within the past five (5)
years.
- No moving violations within the past three (3) years.
- Successfully pass background check.
- Provide drivers abstract dated no more than one month prior to
application date.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Working knowledge of the geography of Mason County
preferred.
- Must possess or be willing to acquire the following: CDL
License (Class B CDL with air brake endorsement), First
Aid/Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation Certificate, and Physical
examination verifying applicant's fitness to drive.
- Current Washington State Driver's License.
- Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including
holidays, nights and/or weekends.
- Expected to work during inclement weather or other emergency
management situations as an essential worker.MTA is a drug and
alcohol-free workplace. This position is classified as
safety-sensitive under MTA's Drug and Alcohol Policy and is
included in random drug and alcohol testing program. Note: MTA is
subject to requirements of the Federal Drug-Free Workplace Act and
CFR Parts 40 & 655, which prohibits the use of marijuana at any
time while employed with MTA.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:The duties of
this position require speaking, hearing, seeing, sitting, stooping,
standing, walking, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting or
moving up to 40 pounds; use of hands to finger, handle, feel, or
operate equipment; reach with hands and arm. Physical effort is
required to perform heavy manual labor in confined and cramped
spaces. Work requires manual finger dexterity and hand-eye
coordination to manipulate hand tools, power tools, and equipment.
Work involves physical risk from mechanical and electrical
equipment. Occasionally exposed to varied weather conditions,
fumes, and vehicle chemicals. Noise level in the work environment
is moderately noisy. Reasonable accommodations are made to enable
